Abnormally dry is the official discription the weather people have for the conditions around the Triangle, soon to be updated to a predicted "Moderate Drought". But let me tell you, it's a SEVERE DROUGHT on Hilltop Farms. I started farming full time just back in 2002 and that was a drought year. The old time tobacco farmers around here told me, "Don't worry about it Freddy, this has been the driest year we've had in 23 years of farming". I remember we got .3 inches of rain that summer in three weeks in August. Hot and dry!. Well, by my count we have gotten .3 inches this year in the last three weeks as of yesterday and its as hot as August, so today sets a new record. With no rain expected until Sunday, I'm calling it the "The driest year in my six years of farming!" And Freddy IS worried.
Please pray for rain for our farm!
Thanks,
Farmer Freddy
