Swiss Chard

Ingredients:
  • Swiss Chard leaves and stems
  • Flour or oil and soy sauce
  • Chopped onions

Directions:

Swiss Chard can be steamed, boiled, stir-fried, or eaten fresh in salads. One cooking suggestion is to separate the stems from the leaves and cook them first. Chop stems into .5 inch pieces and drop into 3 cups boiling water. Add 3 tbsp. flour. Turn down heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Drop leaves into boiling water for 10 minutes or until tender. Drain and chop. Place stems and their thick sauce in the middle of the plate and add leaves around the outside. Another favorite is to simply chop chard and saute with oil, soy sauce, chopped scallions or onions.
